Coombe Road and the Community
Coombe Road Primary School is at the heart of a diverse and interesting community. We pride ourselves on taking part in activities within our local, city and wider community. We were awarded the International School Award in 2014 for the second time to recognise our achievements in global citizenship and language learning.
Children from the school have taken part in planting events, and regularly use the park during the summer months for curriculum projects. We began a city-wide Olympic Torch relay involving 58 secondary, primary, infant, junior and special schools across Brighton and Hove, including taking it on a bus tour. We have taken part in the Brighton Festival Children's Parade since 1991. Same Sky are invited in each year to run art workshops for the children to create their 'props' and 'big make' for this event. Each year we also take part in the 'Let's Dance' Festival in Brighton. We regularly work in partnership with our other local schools: Homewood College, Mouslecoomb Primary, Bevendean Primary, BACA and Coldean Primary. 'Friends of Coombe Road' are a group of parents who ensure that others are keeping up-to-date with the life of the school, as well as fund-raising activities for the school.
