Coombe Road Primary School is a GOOD school (Ofsted 2017)
I am currently having time off from duties to undergo/recover from surgery. Mrs Burcombe is Acting Headteacher in my absence. I hope to be back with you all soon. Mrs Phillips, Headteacher.
Welcome from the Headteacher
Welcome to the Coombe Road Primary School Website.
Coombe Road Primary School is a diverse and welcoming community, where the children love their learning, their friends, and the staff. We have a very committed and enthusiastic staff team and the atmosphere across the school is happy and positive. We are a one-form entry school which means all the children, staff and parents/carers get to know each other very well. Our doors are always open for any child, parent or carer who needs support or advice.
All teachers, teaching assistants and support staff work hard to ensure that the needs of all pupils are met and that each pupil feels valued, safe and happy. We have a strong belief in high levels of aspiration and want to give all our children broad experiences which shape their future and enable them to aspire to a successful, self-fulfilling life. We teach our children to be committed, seek opportunities, respect one another (and ourselves) and demonstrate excellence in all we do.
We develop positive children who are proud of where they have come from and who they want to be. We broaden horizons and raise aspirations so that our children can reach their goals, whatever they may be. At Coombe Road Primary, every child is unique and we value each and every one. We share a pride in all of our achievements and celebrate these together, showing a mutual respect for one another.
Coombe Road Primary School caters for pupils aged 4 -11 years of age and the school is managed in two phases – Infant Phase (maximum 90 children): EYFS/KS1 - 4-7 yrs and Junior Phase (maximum of 120 children): KS2 - 7-11 yrs. Phase Leaders ensure that each age group is well-managed and the needs of pupils are met on a daily basis. Our Curriculum is filled with exciting opportunities, including an annual Dance Festival, cookery, French (KS2), drama and performances, dancing at the Brighton Dome (Let's Dance Festival), participation in the Children's Parade (Brighton Festival), film-making in KS2 (Silverbox Multimedia), a wide range of sports, singing and much more!
At the centre of all good education is the partnership between parents/carers and schools; this is something we value at Coombe Road. Please read through the half-termly newsletters and check the calendar on this site regularly so that you can keep up-to-date about school events and opportunities for your children. If you are a new parent and would like to visit our wonderful community in action, please contact us to make an appointment and we will be delighted to show you around.
