Coombe Road Primary School

Broadening Horizons, Raising Aspirations

FRANK Sharman CITIZENSHIP Award

Frank Sharman was one of eight Sharmans over two generations who attended Coombe Road School. He enjoyed his time at school and, although he was not always a model pupil, he won a scholarship to Varndean Grammar School and went on to lead a varied life in the merchant navy, public relations and advertising. He moved to St. Kitts in the West Indies where he and his wife ran a successful business until his death in 2009.

The Sharman Award is presented annually in his memory by his family.

2021

This award is in recognition of this young person's exemplary manners, fantastic personality and determination to succeed. Throughout a strange and sometimes challenging year, he has brought joy, humour, energy and brilliance to our school. He is a model student, a superb citizen, and we will all miss him very, very much. Well done - you have made everyone so proud.

2020

After an incredibly disruptive year due to the Covid19 pandemic, this young person deserves recognition for continuing to be an exemplary student. She has worked hard with remote learning and demonstrates incredible care for the world we live in, implementing change in her own life to protect our planet.

We managed to get the award to her - and here's a selfie from home!

2019

This year, we have two students (the teachers just couldn't decide!)
