School opening hours
Our school opening hours changed on Monday 5th June 2023. Please see the letter to parents and carers below for further information. The school day is 6.5 hours and the school week is 32.5 hours.
Breakfast Club

Start of the day
The school day at Coombe Road starts at 8:45am. It is really important that your child is at school and ready to start at this time because it will help them settle into their daily routine and ensure that they won't miss the start of their first lesson.
Two school gates will open at 8:40am: the middle Milner Road gate (main entrance) and the middle Coombe Road gate. Parents and carers of Reception and year 1 and year 2 children will be invited to take their children in and line them up in the lower playground. A bell will ring at 8:45am and the children will be welcomed in. Children in KS2 will be able to go straight to class from the middle playground at 8:45am.
Late morning registration
The registration period is between 8:45am and 8:55am.
In accordance with current guidance, the attendance registers are closed at 9.35am. This means that any child who arrives after the registration period (8.45am to 8.55am) but before the registers are closed (9.35am) will be given a late mark 'L' in the register. This code is classed as a present mark, but shows that the child arrived late for school.
Any child who arrives after the registers have closed (9.35am) but before the end of the morning session will be given a 'late after registers closed' mark 'U' in the register. This code is classed as an unauthorised absence but shows that the child was physically present in school for part of the session.
Break times
All classes have a 15 minute break at 10:30am.
Lunch break is from 12:00 noon to 12:45pm.
Infants have a 10 minute afternoon break at 2:00pm.
Juniors have a 10 minute afternoon 'movement' break when needed at the discretion of the teacher.
Afternoon registration
Afternoon registration will be from 12:45pm to 1:00pm.
End of the day
The school day ends at 3:15pm. The middle Milner Road gate (main entrance) and the middle Coombe Road gate will open and parents and carers can collect their children from designated exit doors: infants from the lower playground and juniors from the middle playground.

Children going home alone
Depending on the circumstances and only with written parental permission, year 6 children and year 5 children in the summer term can walk home alone. Please speak to our office manager, Lumina, and hand in the form below if you would like your child to walk home alone.
